1. Muslims are the followers of Islam, historically referred to as Muslims. The word comes from the name of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Muslims believe in one God, Allah, and in Muhammad as his prophet. They follow the Koran, Islam's holy scripture, and practice the five pillars of Islam: the declaration of faith, prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and pilgrimage to Mecca.
