The Equal Remuneration Convention is an international labour Convention that requires equal pay for equal work. It was adopted by the General Conference of the International Labour Organisation in 1951 and has been ratified by over 170 countries. The Convention sets out that all workers have the right to equal pay for work of equal value, regardless of sex, and that it shall be prohibited to discriminate against anyone on the grounds of sex in respect of pay and conditions of work.
